If you are a foreigner, and your Will and Grant of Probate are issued in another jurisdiction, additional legal steps may be required before access to your safe deposit box is granted.
•
For Single Ownership Boxes: Your appointed executor or legal representative must have your foreign Grant of Probate re-sealed by the Singapore Courts or obtain a fresh Grant of Probate in Singapore. This legal process ensures that the foreign documents are recognized under Singapore law. Only upon completion of this process will access to the safe deposit box be granted.
•
For Joint Ownership Boxes: The right of survivorship applies, meaning the surviving joint owner can continue to access the safe deposit box without interruption. However, if STARVAULT is notified of a competing claim by the deceased estate, it reserves the right to restrict access until the matter is legally resolved.
